Every year I seek out and enjoy some of the geekiest tech products. I have personally owned most of these items; others would simply make a great gift to a fellow Geek. Some are for professional use, and others not so much. Whatever the case, here are some of my favorite purchases in 2016!
Unfortunately, the late 2016 13.3” MacBook Pro got a bad wrap. The non-touch bar model is actually a good value if you snag one on sale. I purchased mine from B & H Photo Video. Pro tip: they do not charge sales tax outside of NY and NJ.
I often invest a lot of time and energy researching the best product in a given category. The sit-to-stand desk is an example of one of those times. This desk is gorgeous! And it helps that it allows me to work while standing 🙂
This monitor spoiled me. I can work in Xcode with two editors side by side, all panes open, storyboard showing, and much more! The 34” curved display will supercharge your development. Only two pain points: price and no thunderbolt 3 version (it came out before TB3 was released).
I needed a convenient USB microphone that also delivered on quality. Blue’s Yeti microphone is considered to be the best of its class. It offers a variety of recording modes; making this microphone one of the most flexible microphones out there. High quality, high value, what is not to love?
This hub allows me to use an external display, charge my MacBook Pro, and gain a USB 3.1 port all through plugging in a single USB-C wire into my computer. It does not charge at the fastest rate (it was built for MacBooks since MacBook Pro’s just recently gained USB-C), but it does its job.
Anker makes great products and they have excellent customer service. I stocked up on these and now I never find myself rummaging around for a lightning cable.
Again, I can’t recommend Anker enough. I never find myself low on battery because I charge my iPhone anytime I have to drive. Pro Tip: This pumps enough juice to recharge an iPad as well!
This TV was rated best mid-range 65 inch tv on rtings. The colors pop, the display is super bright, and both 4K and 1080p content look amazing on it. It is great for gaming as well.
And there you have it! Hope you enjoyed my list for 2016.
